In partnership with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), BAPLEA is dedicated to ensure that BATF Black Employees are provided support, up to date policies, procedures, professional development and training. It is the aim of the founders to serve as a catalyst for Black Employees by ensuring they have access to various levels of BATF Black Leadership, Mentorship, and Guidance.
The vision of BAPLEA is to develop, support and sustain a national network of BATF Black Professionals on various ATF professional levels to provide assistance to ATF with the professional development, training and educational resources that will assist and empower Black Employees within their career choices and career development.
More specifically, BAPLEA seeks to work with ATF and partners who are committed to moving toward increased recruitment, hiring, promoting and retaining Black Employees to ensure there is more than the perception of equity and access but an actual ongoing practice for diversity and inclusion.
As President of BAPLEA, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our website. Within these pages is the unfolding story of our organization and its members.
In association with BAPLEA’s mission, its founding members saw a need for additional support and resources for African-American employees affiliated with ATF. BAPLEA’s focal point is on recruitment, hiring, promotion, and retention as this organization seeks to promote and improve the professional interests, development and succession of African-American special agents, investigators, intelligent research specialists, and support staff.
As the Federal government remains committed to partnering with law enforcement agencies across the country to assist them in their efforts to better reflect the diversity of the communities they serve, BAPLEA will be dedicated in providing assistance to achieve their goals with recruitment, hiring, and retention of African-American employees.
The challenges we face as leaders of law enforcement organizations require us to balance varying pressures and perspectives, while maintaining the support of our personnel and the trust of the community. I look forward to partnering with you as BAPLEA’s grows as an organization.
Respectfully,
Constance Hester-Davis
